On Saturday, 14th September, 2019, the congregation of Holy Cross District of West Africa, specifically Ghana, had a joint celebration of the 60th anniversary of vows and profession of final vows for Bro Vincent Gross CSC and Bro Maxwell Kyeremeh CSC respectively at St. Bro Andre Chapel, Holy Cross District Centre, Brafoyaw, Cape Coast.
The district superior, Bro John Badu Affum, CSC, welcomed all present to the joyous celebration.
Bro Vincent Gross CSC was called forth to renew his vows of consecrated chastity, poverty and obedience to God according to the congregation of Holy Cross.
The rites of profession for Bro Maxwell Kyeremeh CSC began with a calling and a request to freely respond to a call by God by offering himself in perpetual profession.
In his Homily, the main celebrant, Most Rev Charles Palmer Buckle, Archbishop of Cape Coast expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Bro Vincent for his selfless sacrifices towards the Holy Mother Church and admonished Bro Maxwell to be Christ Like in his ministry.
After the homily, Bro Maxwell Kyeremeh CSC was examined on his readiness to give himself totally to God in the congregation of the Holy Cross.
The litany of saints was sang to invoke the assistance of the saints while the candidate prostrated before the altar acknowledging his dependence on God and asking those men and women who have attained perfection before him to pray with him as he makes his profession. The candidate professed his vows of consecrated chastity, poverty and obedience to God according to the congregation of Holy Cross. He then took the vow formula to the altar to be signed.
The archbishop prayed and blessed the candidate solemnly. He later blessed the insignia which serves as a symbol for perpetual bond with Christ and a wooden cross which signifies the sign of our salvation and were presented to the candidate after.
Bro Vincent CSC and Bro Maxwell CSC were congratulated by the provincial, main celebrant, priests and religious present, as well as their family amidst singing and dancing.
